Northern Ireland offers a compact golf landscape shaped by the Atlantic and Irish Sea. Coastal links are concentrated around the north and east, where firm turf, dunes and exposed conditions make wind an important part of the game. Inland, parkland courses provide a more sheltered contrast, often within easy reach of Belfast and other towns. Most visiting golfers base themselves around Belfast or use a road trip to combine coastal and inland rounds. The region's short distances also make it practical to include more than one area during a stay. Driving is on the left, and a car is generally the simplest way to reach courses outside the main urban areas. Tee times are busiest in the longer daylight months, particularly at weekends, so advance booking is sensible. Conditions can change quickly in any season; pack waterproof layers and expect breeze on open coastal ground. May through September usually offers the best balance of daylight and playable weather, though summer rain and wind remain possible. Spring and autumn can be quieter, but daylight is shorter and weather variability is often greater.
