Many venues sit close to small towns, beaches or national-park landscapes, making mixed itineraries practical. Links layouts commonly reward low, controlled shots and careful distance management, whereas inland courses place more emphasis on elevation changes and tree-lined strategy. Conditions can shift quickly, particularly on coastal courses and higher ground. May through September usually gives the longest daylight and the most reliable playing window, although rain and wind remain part of the experience. Spring and autumn can be rewarding for quieter tee times, while winter golf depends more on drainage, daylight and local weather. Cardiff provides the main international air access; road journeys between regions are scenic but can take longer than map distances suggest.
