Penrhallt, Llanidloes SY18 6LG
St Idloes Golf Club in Penrhallt, near Llanidloes, offers a friendly golf experience in the heart of Wales. The 9-hole course is set on gently rolling parkland with panoramic views over Mid Wales, including Plynlimon and the Llandinam hills. With a par of 66 and just under 5,500 yards from the back tees, the course demands accuracy and smart course management. Gorse, heather, and tree-lined fairways make every mistake felt, while there is no water and long hitters gain little extra advantage. Founded in 1897, the club has a unique history, located on former racecourse and cricket practice grounds. In June 2023, St Idloes hosted a Wales Golf Mini Masters tournament. For practice, there is a driving range and other facilities, and the club also focuses on sustainability with a recently created wetland wildlife habitat.
