Merewether Golf Course, part of Merewether Golf Club, is in Newcastle's heart, founded in 1933. This 18-hole course demands precision with eucalyptus-lined, narrow fairways, strategic bunkers, and strong water hazards. Many holes feature slopes, tight landing zones, and obstacles like dams and out of bounds, offering a challenging yet controlled test for various golfers. The club is known for its warm, friendly atmosphere emphasizing community and competition. During clubhouse redevelopment, temporary facilities are in use, with a putting green, practice nets, and a members' practice tee outside competition times. PGA professional coaching is available in the Pro Shop.
