PR9 9QQ Southport
Hesketh Golf Club, founded in 1885, is Southport's oldest golf club. The Churchtown course lies among Victorian villas and offers a natural challenge beside a nature reserve and a Site of Special Scientific Interest, home to many birds and wildlife. Designed by George Lowe and James Braid, it is known as a true championship test, with half the holes through dunes and the rest along the Ribble Estuary. The finishing stretch from hole 14 to 18 provides an impressive conclusion towards the clubhouse. Hesketh has regularly hosted Regional Qualifying for The Open and events like the Lancashire Amateur, British Senior Amateur, R&A Junior Open, and the Amateur Championship. The clubhouse and bar and catering facilities enhance the atmosphere, with a driving range available in summer.
