George Washington Hotel Golf and Spa offers a challenging 18-hole course in the peaceful surroundings of Washington, a short drive from Newcastle. From the championship tees, the course measures 6,625 yards and plays as a par 73. The five par 5s especially make the round attractive for players who like to create opportunities with their drives and long shots. The George Washington Golf Club was also known as the venue for the Sunderland Masters and is considered one of the tougher 18-hole courses in northeast England. Besides the course, there is a driving range and putting area, as well as a clubhouse with a pro shop, showers, and changing rooms. Golf lessons are also available from pro JJ Vallely, offering one-on-one coaching for members and visitors.
