About this course:
Alwoodley Golf Club is a historic 18-hole heathland-style course and the first design by Dr. Alister MacKenzie. The original MacKenzie layout remains largely unchanged, offering a varied course with rolling greens, natural-looking mounds, and bunkers that blend beautifully into the landscape. Alwoodley rewards tactics, routing, and finesse, with a character that feels both challenging and refined. The club breathes heritage: MacKenzie joined in 1907 and became club captain in 1912. The clubhouse is a warm, timeless home, and Alwoodley is a familiar name in top amateur tournaments, including the Brabazon Trophy and the 2024 R&A Girls’ Amateur Championship.
