Winged Foot Golf Club is a private club with two 18-hole courses, East and West, both designed by A.W. Tillinghast. The course features elevation changes, narrow and strategic greens, water hazards, deep swales, and large bunkers. The East Course offers challenging par 3s, long par 5s, and refined doglegs requiring careful positioning. Opened in June 1923 with Tudor Scholastic style by Tillinghast and architect Clifford Wendehack, Winged Foot is known for major championships including six U.S. Opens and the Walker Cup; the West Course hosted the PGA Championship, and the East Course hosted two U.S. Women’s Opens and the inaugural U.S. Senior Open. Practice facilities include a driving range, practice areas, and putting greens.
