Quinta do Lago, 8135-024 Almancil
Quinta do Lago South (Sul) is a classic championship golf course in Portugal’s Algarve, set amid the natural beauty of the Ria Formosa Natural Park. Designed in 1974 by William Mitchell, it combines American-style greens, tees and bunkers with a parkland layout framed by umbrella pines, lakes and wildflowers. This 18-hole course plays to a par 72 over around 6,500 metres, with doglegs and strategically placed hazards that demand precision and smart course management. Quinta do Lago South has also established a strong reputation on the European circuit, hosting the Portuguese Open eight times, including Colin Montgomerie’s win in 1989.
