Firestone Country Club’s South Course is a historic championship layout with a strong PGA Tour pedigree. Originally designed by Bert Way and extensively redesigned by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in 1960, the par-70 course now stretches to 7,400 yards and demands precision from the first tee to the final green. Narrow, tree-lined fairways, frequent deep fairway bunkers, firm and fast sloping greens, elevation changes and tricky false fronts all place a premium on smart shot-making, while water is rarely in play. Long known for major tournament golf, the South Course has hosted the Kaulig Companies Championship, 18 years of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and three PGA Championships, adding to its reputation as one of the game’s demanding championship venues.
