About this course:
Effingham Golf Club is an 18-hole course on the English downland, where traces of the old ridge-and-furrow landscape, once part of Effingham’s Open or Common Fields, are still visible. The course combines rolling land tongues with thoughtful holes, elevated greens, and strategically placed bunkers. From the tee and on the approach, precision is required: elevation changes and sloping greens make smart club selection and good fairway positioning important. The club was founded in 1927 and started with Effingham House as the clubhouse, designed by Harry Shapland Colt. The Georgian façade of the current clubhouse dates from around 1800. Effingham also hosted, among others, a regional Open Championship Qualifier from 2006 to 2010 and the English Seniors County Championships in 2019.
