Devil's Thumb Golf Course is an 18-hole prairie style links course at the foot of Grand Mesa, with adobe hills and wide views over Uncompaghre Valley. Designed by Rick Phelps, it offers a varied round with forgiving holes and others requiring accuracy and smart choices. Wind, elevation changes, and strategic bunkers, water, and lakes often make the difference, especially on par-4s and challenging par-3s. Opened in 2001, it quickly earned acclaim, including 2nd place in Golf Digest's Best New Affordable Public Course 2002. It regularly appears in rankings and is known for its American links feel and characterful play experience.
