Machrie Hotel, Isle of Islay PA42 7AN, Verenigd Koninkrijk
Another Place, The Machrie is a Scottish links course on the Isle of Islay, set above the sand dunes with wide views of dunes, sea and sky. Originally designed by Willie Campbell in 1891 and redesigned in 2018 by David J. Russell, the Machrie Links now stretches to more than 7,000 yards from the back tees and is built for modern championship golf. Playing conditions change with the wind and daily pin positions, keeping every round fresh and demanding. Generous fairways, driveable par 4s and testing par 5s reward smart decisions, while well-placed tee shots, contoured greens and revetted bunkers add to the challenge. With four tee sets to choose from, the course offers a varied links test, from the downhill 5th towards Laggan Bay to the closing par 5 back towards the hotel.
