Around Seattle and the surrounding lowlands, courses often sit among evergreens and rolling terrain. The Olympic Peninsula and coastal areas can be especially exposed to wind and changing weather, while mountain routes may involve higher elevations and shorter operating seasons. Golfers can combine urban access with quieter regional stops, but travel distances and ferry or mountain-pass routes can affect a multi-course itinerary. East of the Cascades, conditions become drier and sunnier, particularly around the Columbia Basin and other inland valleys. Fairways there can play firmer in summer, and heat is more of a consideration than on the coast. Late spring through early autumn is generally the most dependable window statewide, though shoulder-season rounds can be rewarding when conditions permit. Pack layers and rain protection for western trips, allow extra travel time across mountain passes, and check seasonal access before booking golf in higher-elevation areas or trips.
