Golf Along Thailand’s Gulf Coast

Prachuap Khiri Khan Province runs down the western side of the Gulf of Thailand, with Hua Hin at its northern end and quieter coastal districts farther south. Golf visitors commonly use Hua Hin as a base, while nearby beach towns, reservoirs and forested limestone ridges make it practical to combine rounds with relaxed day trips. The province is long and narrow in places, so travel times can vary considerably between accommodation, courses and attractions. Most golf travel is concentrated around Hua Hin and neighbouring inland areas, where courses are generally reached by road rather than public transport. A rental car or arranged transfers give the greatest flexibility, especially for early tee times. November to February is typically the more comfortable period for playing, with lower humidity and less rain than the wet season. March through May can be hot, while rain showers are more frequent from roughly May into October. Bangkok is the principal international flight gateway; road and rail links continue south to Hua Hin and other parts of the province. Advance transport planning is worthwhile during holiday weekends.
