Golf in China is concentrated around major coastal cities and resort areas, with particularly useful bases in the Pearl River Delta, the Yangtze River Delta, Hainan and parts of Yunnan. Conditions vary sharply: southern and island venues can be warm and humid for much of the year, while northern courses have a shorter playing season and may close during winter. Layouts range from parkland and resort designs to hillier courses where elevation, rain and wind affect the round. Travel times between regions are substantial, so a focused one-region stay is usually more efficient than a cross-country itinerary.
Many clubs operate as private or resort-led facilities, and visitor access can depend on advance arrangements, a hotel package, a member introduction or an approved booking channel. Confirm tee-time availability, guest rules, caddie requirements, dress standards and payment methods before travelling; policies can differ between clubs. International visitors should carry their passport and allow time for registration. Spring and autumn are generally the most comfortable nationwide travel windows, though Hainan and the far south remain playable outside them. Pair golf with nearby city or resort stays, and use domestic flights or high-speed rail only after checking the final transfer to the course.
