About this course:
Royal Worlington and Newmarket Golf Club, known as The Sacred Nine, is a 9-hole course on gently rolling, sandy terrain in rural Suffolk. The inland links character blends beautifully with a parkland landscape, with gorse and fir trees adding color to the short but challenging round. Thanks to good drainage, the course is playable year-round and retains its traditional character. Since 1893, it has been a 9-hole course. In the early 1920s, adjustments were made after a visit from Harry Colt. The layout features hog’s back fairways, square bunkers, and greens with steep or tricky contours. The fifth hole is often a highlight, while the ninth provides a strong finish. The club is also home to Cambridge University Golf Society, emphasizing its classic university connection.
