Ashton on Mersey Golf Club lies along the River Mersey with a unique character in the Mersey Valley. This 18-hole par 71 course demands precise play, featuring water hazards, trees, out of bounds, and multiple bunkers that keep the round exciting. Stromford Brook and the River Mersey frequently appear in the landscape, while carries to elevated greens and well-protected landing zones can immediately punish mistakes. The course encourages thoughtful club selection, with hidden bunkers, two-tier greens, and winding lines to challenging, well-defended greens. On some par 3s, the impact of reprofiling and new bunkers is clear, including a tree-lined hole redesigned in winter 2012/13. The clubhouse offers a traditional, welcoming setting for about 120 people.
