The Royal Burgess Golfing Society of Edinburgh

The Royal Burgess Golfing Society of Edinburgh, also known as The Royal Burgess Golf Club, is located in Barnton, west of Edinburgh, offering a beautiful parkland setting. The course was originally designed by Willie Park Jr and later enhanced by Tom Morris and James Braid, followed by significant revisions. With tree-lined fairways, fast greens, and strategically placed bunkers, the course demands precise tee shots and confident putting, as sloppy play around the greens is quickly punished. The club's history dates back to 1735, with former homes at Bruntsfield Links and Musselburgh. The course has a strong tournament reputation, including the Penfold-Swallow in 1956 and 1959, alongside later professional and amateur championships. After the round, the late Victorian Arts and Crafts-style clubhouse offers a cozy conclusion with views over the course.
