From the championship tees, Southerness plays as a par 69 over 6,735 meters, featuring a challenging links profile demanding control and feel. The club has a notable history, with the local lighthouse as its emblem symbol. Southerness hosted the British One Armed Golf Championship in 1954 and the Scottish Amateur Championship in 1985 and 1995. The 1974 clubhouse overlooks the 18th green through large windows.
