Sherwood Forest Golf Club cover

About this course:

Sherwood Forest Golf Club is a classic inland heathland course in the East Midlands, on the edge of Clipstone Woods, surrounded by pines, silver birch, and oak. The eighteen-hole Championship Course is par 71 and stretches over 6,835 yards. On the firm, sandy terrain, heather and gorse play a major role, with subtle elevation changes and long carries that reward accuracy and smart club choice. The course features 98 bunkers and a demanding back nine, making good scoring in the second half far from guaranteed. The club dates back to 1895 and moved to its current location in 1912. The course was originally designed by Harry Colt and later enhanced by James Braid. Sherwood Forest is considered a traditional example of heathland golf and has hosted various championships, including the England Boys’ Amateur Stroke Play Championships, the Brabazon Trophy, and the McGregor Trophy.
