Whittle Le Woods, Near Buckshaw, Chorley, Lancashire PR6 7PP
Shaw Hill Golf Club is an 18-hole parkland course with a challenging par-72 layout. Designed in 1924 by Laurence Allamby, a student of Dr. Alister McKenzie, the first rounds were played in spring 1925. Since then, the club has become a notable golf destination in Lancashire. The course features a beautiful landscape with strategically placed ponds, a winding stream, internal out of bounds, and hundreds of trees. Heavily bunkered greens, dog-legs, long par 3s, and tricky water hazards require smart course management, while accuracy on short holes and length on par 5s are well rewarded. The estate atmosphere and clubhouse enhance the classic golf character.
