About this course:

Royal Troon Golf Club’s Old Course is a classic 18-hole links in Troon, shaped by dramatic coastal terrain and defined by views that change from hole to hole. Its character is perhaps best captured by the celebrated eighth hole, “Postage Stamp,” a short but exacting test that has become one of the most talked-about holes in championship golf. Originally known as “Ailsa” for the striking view of the rocky islet, the hole took on its famous name because of its tiny putting surface. Played from high ground with a dropping tee shot over a gully, it asks for complete precision to a long, narrow green set into the side of a large sandhill. Even top players can struggle here, and many have found it a stern challenge at the shortest Open Championship hole.
