Royal Aberdeen Golf Club

LINKS ROAD, BRIDGE OF DON, ABERDEEN, AB23 8AT

Royal Aberdeen Golf Club cover

About this course:

Founded in 1780, Royal Aberdeen Golf Club is one of the world’s oldest golf clubs and a classic name in Scottish golf. The club’s Balgownie Links was originally designed by the Simpson Brothers and later re-bunkered and lengthened by James Braid, preserving the character of the links while adapting it for modern play. This 18-hole links course is a true test, routed out through the dunes and back along a plateau. Fairways move through valleys and hollows, with tight, undulating lies, gorse, burns, and blind or hidden features shaping every round. Small putting surfaces and demanding hazards reward accurate ball-striking, and the course is especially suited to golfers with a handicap of 24 or under. Royal Aberdeen has also hosted major events, including the 2014 Aberdeen Asset Management Open, and is known for its warm, traditional clubhouse.
