North West Golf Club, Lisfannan, Fahan, Co. Donegal, F93 W0VC, Ierland
North West Golf Club is an 18-hole links course, established in 1891 and one of the nine founding members of the Golfing Union of Ireland. Set in Lisfannon on the Inishowen peninsula, beneath the Mouldy Mountains and along the shores of Lough Swilly on the Wild Atlantic Way, it offers ever-changing coastal views and a classic links challenge. The course plays over fast-running fairways, true fescue greens and wispy rough, with humps and hollows shaping the layout. Strategically placed riveted bunkers and concealed run-offs demand careful club selection and precise shot-making throughout this demanding round. North West Golf Club also has a strong place in Irish amateur golf history, highlighted by Brian McElhinney’s European Amateur Championship win in 2003, his British Amateur Championship victory in 2005, and the club’s All Ireland Senior Cup success in 2005.
