New Club House, Beach Rd, North Berwick EH39 4BB, Verenigd Koninkrijk
North Berwick Golf Club’s West Links is a classic true links course on the edge of the Firth of Forth, where the sea comes into play on six holes. The beach can become a long, occasionally wet hazard at high tide, and walls running through the fairways and in front of greens add to the course’s distinctive character. With 18 holes and a par 71 layout, the West Links asks for imagination, precision and confident shot-making in a setting shaped by its championship pedigree. The club’s roots go back to early 17th-century play, with formal organisation in 1832, before the course grew into a full 18-hole championship layout in 1877 and took its present shape under Ben Sayers in 1932. Standout holes include the 13th “Pit”, the 14th “Perfection” and the demanding 15th “Redan”. The West Links has also hosted the Scottish Boys’ Championship from 1935 to 1975 and remains a regular final qualifying venue linked to The Open at Muirfield.
