FOTA ISLAND RESORT GOLF CLUB FOTA ISLAND RESORT, Carrigtohill, Co. Cork, T45 HW72, Ierland
Fota Island Resort is a championship golf venue set among mature oaks and quiet fairways, offering 27 holes of varied and strategic golf. Originally designed in 1993 by Christy O’Connor Jr. and Peter McEvoy, and later redesigned in 2000 by Jeff Howes, the resort is made up of Deerpark, Belvelly and Barryscourt, with pars of 71, 72 and 73 respectively. The layout is known for playable, fair golf, with strong holes and memorable moments throughout, including Deerpark’s iconic 18th, Belvelly’s opening stretch with water and trees, and Barryscourt’s 8th, which plays over an old quarry to a green with a distinctive angle. The resort has also hosted major events, including the Irish Open three times across all three courses, as well as the PGA Europro Audi Cork Irish Masters in 2011 and 2012. A clubhouse created from old stone farm buildings sits naturally in the landscape, with the Pro Shop located beside it.
