Fairway Avenue 1, 2192 Johannesburg
The East Championship Course at Royal Johannesburg is an 18-hole par-72 layout measuring 7,001 meters, designed in 1939 by Robert Grimsdell. Following a 2017 revamp, it has evolved into a modern parkland course featuring kikuyu fairways and tees with bent grass greens. This provides a precise, technical golf experience emphasizing accuracy and tactical play. Royal Johannesburg boasts a rich history since 1890 and was formed in 1998 after a merger. The club has hosted nine South African Open Championships and eleven Joburg Open Championships. The East Championship Course gained international recognition in 2018 and is supported by practice facilities including a driving range and academy located between the East and West courses.
