Agmore Road, B60 1PY Blackwell
Blackwell Golf Club is a historic course in the heart of the country, founded in 1893 by five local businessmen. The original nine holes expanded to 18, with Harry Shapland Colt refining the design in 1913. At the official reopening on August 4, 1923, Tom Simpson and Herbert Fowler were involved, with Simpson as the main driving force. The course lies on gently rolling terrain with natural sandy soil, providing excellent drainage and year-round playability. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, with a club culture rich in tradition and etiquette. The centrally located clubhouse overlooks the course, conveniently situated between the front and back nine. Blackwell suits strategic play, with Foursomes a popular format. Groups and societies are welcome for golf days, and the wine cellar offers a relaxed end to the round.
